Geriatricians like to think in 4 "M's": Mind, Mobility, Medications, and what Matters Most.
We take a step back and see how all of the pieces are fitting together.
We help figure out if memory problems are related to normal aging, or whether it's because of an illness like dementia or depression
We do our best to reduce fall risks. We also see how you're functioning in your day-to-day life and maximize your independence as much as possible while identifying areas where more help might be useful
We like to try to cut down on medications that you might not need any more or that may be causing more harm than good.
It is important to know what constitutes a good life for each individual person. Often as we get older, we are less focused on living as long as possible and more concerned about living as well as possible
As a geriatric consultant, I partner with your primary care doctor to tackle problems related to aging.
We strive to keep folks as happy, healthy, and functional for as long as possible, but also walk alongside people through hard decisions, life transitions, and difficult diagnoses.
